NGO with Special Consultative Status at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations since 2013



 

The purpose of our association is to support the Mapuche people of Chile and Argentina as well as other indigenous peoples of the Latin America in their fight for their human rights and to help them in order to get from the concerned countries the respect of the UN Declaration on the rights of the indigenous peoples and their struggle for land rights, for economic and cultural rights, for autonomy and self-determination.

Our organization strives to achieve these objectives by establishing communications with representatives Mapuche activists and other indigenous peoples of the Americas Latin for human rights, by compiling cases of violations of human rights, by collecting information on each specific case of atrocities made in violation of human rights, by producing documents that will be presented to the United Nations and other international organizations for defense of human rights, by creating a database of contacts of Mapuche activists,of human rights organisations and of medias. Here some examples of recent activities and projects:
Various statements of Reynaldo Mariqueo,Vice-President of our association, to the working group of the United Nations concerning the indigenous peoples - Geneva from July 29 to August 2, 1985, on September 16, 2008, on September 20, 2010 (made by the intermediate of the "Society for the peoples danger "because we didn’t have consultative status)
Participation in the European Parliament conference on the indegenious people of Latin America in March 2011, organized by the UNPO where our Vice President Reynaldo Mariqueo is also Vice-President.

In the future our organization will contribute to the work of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) and its subsidiary bodies as NGO with Special Consultative Status by making regular interventions by on the current situation of the Mapuche people in Chile and Argentina as well as the one of other indigenous peoples of Latin America.

We will continue to raise global awareness of the problem of indigenous people and their struggle for survival, we will use modern communications in order to inform the international community on indigenous cultures and on the Mapuche culture In particular, we will develop contacts between Mapuche and European organizations and we will continue to develop links between indigenous schools in Chile and Argentina, and schools in other countries, we continue to encourage European citizens to get involved in the activities of Mapuche communities and we will encourage the development of sustainable tourism by providing information on the culture, the policy and the economy of the Mapuche people. We will promote public awareness of all international treaties and conventions universally recognized and adopted by the United Nations and by the Organization of non represented Nations and Peoples (UNPO), which have a affect on the humanity and the rights of indigenous peoples. We will focus on the Mapuche contribution to the rich cultural diversity of the world through exhibitions, publications, regular visits and the conferences of the United Nations and other international forums. We will develop and maintain communications with Mapuche groups and other indegenious people of the world.
